The stats. for this group of high achieving cross industry companies are impressive, with an average annual growth rate in three years of exactly 50%. Sajid Javid , Secretary of State for Business , Innovation and Skills, responded to the welcome from Xavier Rolet, CEO of the LSE. It was observed that without these companies Britain’s GDP instead of growing at an average annual rate of 2.7% would have been in recession, a stark reminder of why ScaleUps are so vital to the UK economy.  The overarching theme was exactly in line with our mantra that whereas Britain is great at start-ups we in this country so far have not sustained this into as many global champions as other economies.

The panel session noted that the availability of funds was no longer the major obstacle to growth anymore, compared to  mentoring; finding talent and  creating international distribution channels – all of the areas we at ScaleUp focus on. Marcus will be a keynote speaker at the WCIT Enterprise Awards Dinner on June 9th, which John initiated in 2011 and will be chairing for the 6th time this year.
